Baking Tools: Most of the tools you need to make bread are basic kitchen tools like measuring cups & spoons, spatula, pan, bowl etc... The only item that you might find hard to get is a baker's couche which you can order here.

Baker's couche is a canvas cloth made from untreated natural fiber used to proof (ferment) the dough. The rough surface absorbs the extra moisture in the dough giving the bread a thick crispy crust which is a characteristic of French bread. It is also sturdy enough to hold a round shape to create a dividing wall between the loaves so that they don't stick to each other. You will still get acceptable results without it but if you want to perfect your bread like the French do and get a nice thick crust, you can buy it here, it comes in natural cotton.

Baskets: Baskets are also used with the couche to proof round and oval loaves to help keep the round shape of the loaves. Baskets are easy to find but you can also use bowls instead if you don't have a basket or simply proof on a flat surface and fold the couche around the loaf.

For your convenience, below you will find more baking tools that you can order on this page that are available through Amazon.

Baking stone: Helps make a crispy crust and distributes the heat evenly without burning the bottom of the bread.
Wooden Pizza peel: To slide dough into oven. You can also use the back of a baking pan.
Metal pizza peel: To remove bread and pizza from oven.
Scale: Using a scale is more accurate for measuring flour and ingredients, but you can also use measuring cups and spoons as well.
Mixer: You can mix the dough by hand, however an electric mixer is tougher than hands and mixes very well and makes it more elastic.
Instant yeast: Instant yeast is mixed directly in the flour without activating it with warm water. My recipes all use instant yeast.
Parchment paper: To help the dough slide easily into oven.
Mister: To lightly wet the hands when handling dry dough.
Squeeze bottle: Squeezing water onto the oven walls to create steam. It works better than a sprayer.
Dough scraper or divider: To divide dough or scrape it.
Malted barley flour: A yeast food that helps in the fermentation process (optional). A small quantity is usually used.
Ascorbic acid (Vitamin C):
Only a small pinch is required to stimulate the yeast (optional).
Scoring lame (blade): To score/slash the dough before baking to allow it to expand.
Food thermometer: To measure the temperature of the dough, especially after the mixing process.
Oven thermometer: Most home ovens temperature indictors are not very accurate. An oven thermometer is recommended.
Cooling racks: Bread should be cooled before serving. A multi level rack saves space.
Kitchen timer: If you're baking multiple batches, a timer helps keep track of fermenting / proofing time.
